Can I do this with two digital cameras?

Can I take the memory card out of a HP Photosmart 435 & put it into a Canon SD1200, and the pictures from the one camera would be on the next ?

I know it is sort of a stupid question, but please just answer.

if they take the same card type then yes.
it is rare that they need to format the card before hand.
it will create new folders to put pictures in, even if it is not the same camera brand.
I did if for a fufi pocket camera and a sanyo c40, works a treat.

Well maybe. Formatting a card in one camera usually disables it for another camera but you can try. Each camera has a unique code it writes to the card so it can recognize and talk with the card while taking photos.

You can try but you might corrupt your card and have to replace it. Actually you should probably keep at least 3 cards on hand in case one goes bad while you're on a shoot.
