Would taking pictures with a DSLR camera in misty/foggy weather be damaging to the equipment?

I read in the manual that the we are supposed to keep these cameras away from wet conditions however i swear i've seen tons of people use them in foggy environments and today is foggy so i want to take pictures outside with these types of lighting conditions.

I think you will be fine. I had one DSLR that was not considered a "weather sealed" camera and on many occasions was out in very cold weather (on a trip to Beijing) and many time in humidity (live in Florida) and sometimes out on moist foggy days.

Some DSLRs are more weather resistant but in general built well. I listed some links below if you wanted to look up your brand and model and see what the specs are.

Hope this helps.
