How to upload pictures from a digital camera using a usb drive?

i lost my camera chord..and i wanna send pictures to a friend.
i know its possible to upload pictures to your computer using a usb drive..
i just don't know how to..
anybody know?
Thanks if you help!

Here two options:
1- Use a cord from another device like an MP3 or a GPS that can be USB plugged and is going to work as good as the original, it works for me.
2- If your camera has an SD card and your computer an SD slot to read it you can forget about the cord an upload this way your pics to the PC.
Hope it helps!

The easiest way to transfer files to your computer, is to use a USB 2.0 card reader (one that's compatible with your memory card). Then simply insert your memory card, then plug both into your computer's USB port. Or, your computer may already have an inbuilt card reader...some do.

Windows will recognize it as a removable device/drive (look in 'Computer' if you have Vista or 'My Computer' if you have XP). Then simply copy the files over to your computer.
