I lost my manual for the Camera! :(
So i need a little help, if its even possible to do videos on the D40!
sorry but you cannot do videos with this camera...
i have some nikon cameras, you can shoot video with the d90 but not the D40 d60 model
good camera though:]
It doesn't have any video capabilities.
Answer by T. Le on 30 Dec 2009 10:12:16You can't. The D40 hit the market before the video gimmick became popular. It's replacement, the D3000, also can't do video.
By the way, here's a replacement manual for you.

And a very nice user's guide I'd recommend you print out and save.

If you're interested in taking video, I would suggest looking into a Nikon D5000 (or Canon T1i). You could perhaps find a buyer for your camera and get a newer model with video capabilities.
Answer by DTortie on 30 Dec 2009 11:16:54The D40 can not do video. In the Nikon line of DSLR cameras, the lease expensive option is the Nikon D5000.
Below I listed a link to the Nikon's webpage about the D5000. It costs about $650 with a 18-55mm zoom lens.
Hope this helps.
